An interview with Milan 3
English Translation
I: Did you know how to draw blood?
Milan: Yes, but I still know, it's like riding bike, you can't forget it.
I: It's harder out of vein... Did you have some practice while you were going to school?
Milan: Yes, of course we had practice..... I had to start working after finished school, mainly because of bad financial situation.
I: You worked as a medical technician?
Milan: Yes, I worked on hemodialysis for 6 months. I have to say that that is a very humane job, and that is the main reason why I decided to do it. But, it 'destroys' you very much..
I: When you go out for a walk, do your fans waylay you?
Milan: Well, I don't have that habit of walking, I prefer taxis...
I: OK, we're going to meet your friend..
Milan: Yes, with Jelena, to chat a little bit. She's my best friend and I think we must keep dear people close to ourselves.
I: Is that the reason why your mom and sister moved to Belgrade?
Milan: Yes, because of my obligations I would arrive home to Obrenovac only once a month...
I: They like to live here?
Milan: Yes, my sister enjoys that, but my mom is worried all the time because she realizes all the things very emotional, all those non-important newspaper articles...
I: Yes, you are not so trite like some medias want to present singers...
Milan: Yes, and that's the reason why I like shows like your because I can present who I really am and demant those empty articles.
I: In the beginning I thought that your relationship with Rada is a marketing gimmick and you are doing that because of popularity and promotion..
Milan: Well, I think that people didn't get used to see that kind of couple.
I: OK, but your relationship helped you to get more popular, but was it also sometimes annoying?
Milan: Yes, people were 'rinsing their mouths' with that except with mouthwash... Media's interfence into our private lives acts really destructive, so I want to leave my private life out of public. I want an emotional and deep relationship but I don't think about some excessively 'binding' and intimate confessions.
I: They all ask you about marriage, children...they are never satisfied.
I: Have you imagine popularity like this?
Milan: No, I thought that's easy, that you just have to sing on weekends, take few photos..and that's it. I couldn't imagine that this is a job which lasts 24 hours.
I: Did you stop being nervous because of tabloid inscriptions about you sexual orientation? And, did you ask Bregović about his statement 'we have gay for competition, too'?
Milan: Bregović didn't say that, some journalist alluded on me.. But that's not important, and I don't have to torture myself with that. You have to let people who don't understand my styling to travel a little bit and see...
I: Yes, I... think it's really weird when someone marvels because a man dyes his hair or uses make-up. I mean, that's the part of public appearance. Hair dying exists since eighties, remember Billy Idol..
I: Have you met Zdravko Čolić?
Milan: No, I haven't..
I: Still not? I thought he's your greatest idol..
Milan: I started singing with his songs...
I: When are you going to meet him? Did you ask goran Bregović and Marina Tucaković..?
Milan: I don't know..When I started doing this job I realized that famous people are not ideal..So, now I don't have some ultra-desires to consort with all of them.
I: No, I thought just meet him..If you maybe want some advice, I know that was some stories about his homosexuality when he was on the top of his popularity. So, every popular guy has to go through that rumors...
Milan: Yes, it's some kind of 'trailer'...
I: I know that you're horoscope virgo, very precise, so I hope we're not late...
Milan: We're late a little bit, that's why I was hurrying.
I: Hi Jelena, I presume you're Milan's best friend...Is it annoying to you to be photographed with Milan sometimes?
Jelena: No, it's not...
I: Has Milan changed since he's popular?
Jelena: Well, I think he's not.
I: Glory didn't 'hit his head'?
Jelena. No, no...
Milan: I hate this expression, it's so stupid...
Milan: I think that I really need a support now...
I: Yes, to keep you on the ground... Well, all this people who approach to you and communicate with you can sometimes make you feel lonely. Do you have this problem?
Milan: I think that's a paradox, you're seeing lot of people, lot of people are passing through your life, but you feel lonely if you don't have a real friend or a girlfriend or family... And I'm scared of being alone so I keep all those dear people near to myself.
Milan: We're practicing rhetoric because she studyies international relations.
I: Do you ever prepare yourself before some of his interviews, do you advise him sometimes?
Jelena: Yes, a little bit. Milan is a good listener but he never does what you say to him... So, I don't waste my energy on that.
I: You sound like his mom... Is it like that?
Milan: Well, I think it's inverely, I'm more like her dad...
I: Do you advise him when he choses his girfriend?
Jelena: I think it's the only thing in which I don't 'mingle'...
I: Does he that to you?
Jelena: Yes, he's like dad to me.
I: So you watch of her?
Milan: You know how they say, you have to look after female child.
I: When you heard your song for the first time, did you like it? Did you hear other competitors and did you like their songs better?
Milan: I haven't heard other songs then, I heard them on competition. I believed in my appearance and that my song is the best, and it was.
I: Does it remind you a little bit on Zdravko Čolić?
Milan: It botheres me whan they say that Emina's is like Severina, Oliver's is like 'Bijelo dugme' and my is like Zdravko Čolić. Every singer has his own energy...
I: But that is not on you..maybe on Bregović and Marina.. It reminds me, maybe because of that 'Ljubice, ljubice'...
